Almost everything we do is through volunteers, but the cost of things like tools and materials, hiring equipment for special projects and running Forest School days soon adds up.
The Friends are our only source of regular income. At the moment we manage to make up the shortfall by applying for one-off awards to private Trusts and grant-giving bodies. This takes up an inordinate amount of time and the success rate is low.
The total population of Steyning, Bramber and Upper Beeding is approximately 10,000. If just 500 of us (that’s 5%) committed to giving £3 a month, just the cost of a cup of coffee, our costs for delivering projects ‘on the ground’ would be completely covered.
